Great Fashion Blogs from The First Generation of Bloggers:

HYPEBEAST

  • Hypebeast was created in January of 2005″ as a humble blog with hopes of providing an aggregated platform for the latest developments in both sneakers and streetwear.” It has since evolved into to an incredible online magazine and news source for: fashion, arts, design, culture and lifestyle. HYPEBEAT (hypebeast.com) Founder, Editor in Chief
    Kevin Ma.

susie bubble

    • The Style Bubble started back in 2006 by founder Susanna Lau, AKA: Susie Bubble.  With training in writing and editing, Susie brings to light her articulate and gracefully written views on style and fashion at large.  A former editor of Dazed Digital (the online presence of Dazed & Confused magazine) Lau is now a full time pro blogger and highly sought after freelance writer (for such publications as Elle, The Daily Rubbish and Dazed Digital).  According to the Style Bubble, her number focus is bring the spotlight to new and emerging talent, a worthy endeavor, indeed.   “… you will often see me staring into space, fixated at nothing in particular or listening to my iPod oblivious to many things.” – Susie Bubble

.the sartorialist

    • Hold on to your DLSR’s and prepare to blown away by /blogger/photographer Scott Schuman, AKA: The Sartorialist.  “The site began with the idea of creating a two-way dialogue about the world of fashion and its relationship to daily life” –  Scott Schuman.  Schuman has received international praise for his stunning photographs and ability to capture style with humanity. Reaching far beyond simple “blogging” The Sartorialist  has an uncanny way of connecting with his subjects and has single handily developed a widely recognized/coveted style of photography; in fact his collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography.

Brilliant International Fashion Blogs

Tokyo Fashion Blog

      • TokyoFashion.com is an  online publication and birds eye the Tokyo Fashion scene as it evolves day by day,   with a focus on Japanese / Tokyo Street Style. These guys are among the most devoted bloggers you’ll run across and bring to light such a brilliant and vibrant world of decadence, fashion, and crazy style. “Our goal is to keep you up to date with what’s going on in Japanese fashion, day to day, hour to hour.” –Tokyo Fashion
Japanese streets
    • Japanese Streets, is a great, fun street style blog.  Spanning shots of edgy, cray cray style from all over Japan.  The site has some unique features, like searching by color, latest color etc.  I love Japaneses Fashion! Check them out!  The site was created by photo-journalist Kjeld Duit, back in 2002,  “Inspired by the stunningly creative street fashion that exploded on the streets of Tokyo and Osaka in the late 1990’s” and has been going strong ever since.

Upscale Hype

  • Upscale Hype: Cool site, geared more like an online magazine/blogazine. Focuses on a lot of interesting celebrity style and luxury commercial fashion. As fashion blogs go, these guys are pretty down to earth and even have their show.

  • A though in the mind of…: Blogger Nik is a fiery blonde that has brilliant style and an awesome sense of what’s what in fashion. If you haven’t checked out her blog yet I have to ask you… What are you waiting for?
Her witticisms and clever repartee go a long way when discussing such important fashion topics as next season’s important colors or which shoes to pick up on any given Tuesday. This fashion blogger (and I don’t use that term loosely) has an abundance of topics, opinions, and style. Nik is definitely a blogger to watch and subscribe to in 2012.

A Haute Mess

I recently reached out to the infamous blogger from “A Haute Mess” who is actually a lot of fun and when I asked her for a bio this was her response:

“Hmm… as for my bio, I don’t even know. haha. I started my blog a few years ago with the goal of networking in the local fashion industry and having a fun, new creative outlet. It worked on both counts because I sincerely loved and still do love having this outlet, and as these things go, one thing led to another and I saw my blog go from having it’s sole visitor (me) to thousands of unique visitors everyday. The goal of it has always been to have fun with fashion. It’s an industry shrouded in secrecy and exclusivity, and I’ve always thought that there’s no reason for that since fashion is for everyone. (This is one of the great things about blogging which I’m sure you can agree on, it’s really democratized fashion and has made it so much more accessible). So I’ve always made it a point to show that fashion is fun, we can make fun of ourselves for wearing ridiculous things, and at the end of the day we should always have a good time with it. And people seem to like that, and keep coming back, so that’s awesome.

My blog has taken me on this wild adventure. I’ve been featured in publications around the world, including Vogue Paris, Glamour, Seventeen, etc., and I’ve been able to work with other media outlets like MTV Canada and FASHION Magazine. Some of the most fun work I get to do as a blogger is actually hosting events, because I’m annoying and like to talk and be the center of attention. Just kidding. I love to meet my readers in real life because so often I just stare at my traffic, and if it’s so much more than what’s happening in my comments, facebook interactions, tweets, etc. I’m always wondering more about the people who read my blog. And also I need to thank them! haha. I’ve covered three seasons of NYFW, that has been a major perk of my career so far. I actually cried my first time walking to the tents! And I’ve been able to work with amazing companies like Schick Quattro for Women as a national spokesperson for one of their campaigns, so that has been really really cool.

As for me I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. I now live in NYC and starting this fall I’ll be working on my Master’s Degree in Journalism at Columbia University, specializing in Digital Media.

Wow what a story, I have been following Niki for a number of years and I can truly say her wit and sarcasm take her blog to new heights with which any number of people would be offended which is what makes her writing so appealing and SO hilarious. Check out her blog “A Haute Mess”  and be sure to subscribe to this witty firecracker.
