Why Working Out Works

In a World Where We Justify Take-Out Knowing the Risks… Take a Moment For You.

I’m busy. Not as busy as you maybe, perhaps you have more time to spend on health, or your kids, or making a perfect quiche for the fam… but taking time for you is important. I’m writing these words and it seems so obvious. And maybe it is? But not a lot of us do it? Why not? Why don’t we spend 1 hour a day on us.

Playing match three games on your phone doesn’t count as self love time. And to be clear… I’m talking about physical health here, so all you meditation junkies cool it. I’m talking about resistive, weight bearing, guttural, grunting, deep breathing exercise. Think of farmers… or laborers. The people who lift.

Although I don’t agree with hyper masculinity at its nature, I do think some heavy lifting regularly for men and women and everyone in-between is super healthy. Lifting heavier weights, means… more rests! (YAS!), but also more caloric burn and less fat overall. Now, I have to say… I don’t mind a little fat. I actually think it’s sexy. But too much is unhealthy. And you, or your partner may struggle with health in this way. That’s tough. But a small amout of focus on health each day is exactly what can change your situation.

I was 30 lbs. overweight and lost it all in 6 months. I severely changed my diet and worked out hard 5 days a week. This is not ordinary and I don’t think many people will have this opportunity to be a completely dedicated workout junkie like me. And I was. But once I lost 25 lbs, I slowed my roll. ate some carbs and some cheese.

One thing I never gave up was alcohol…. that’s just me though… lol Cheers. But lif is about balance. And you’ll achieve it. I did through deprivation. You may through excess. But it all comes out in the wash.
