A couple images were released today for the Jason Wu for Target collaboration. Jason has purportedly been in the works of creating this collection for the last few months and it shows. So far the look that has been released has an above the knee hemline and a flirty silhouette.
The pieces will likely be of a man made synthetic fabric like polyester or rayon but for the low price Target has marked the pieces at ($19.99 – $59.99), it is a great bargain.
The look featured in the first leaked photo was a navy sleeveless dress with a very feminine flowing hemline that embodies business smarts, and street savvy. An off centered button closure in the front adds the perfect amount of detail to a perfect spring evening dinner dress.
The only leaked photo of an accessory from the line set to be released February 05, 2012 was an ivory and black convertible satchel. The envelope closure is fastened with a bronze magnetized clasp sewn onto a compact sand and brown colored strip of fabric which gives hints to the rest of the line. There will likely be pieces throughout the line with lots of striping (as seen on the dress image in tangerine orange and peach) and plaid detailing.
The nice thing with these collections is that they can tweak and perfect their lines well after all the other major collections have shown for Spring 2012 giving them an edge. Also, unlike the Missoni collection which has a huge amount of history behind its name, Jason Wu can do whatever he feels like doing and whatever Target would like him to do. Hopefully he has the wherewithal as a new designer to really stand his ground and produce a line that is consistent with his brand.
Hopefully Target has put their site on a better server so it won’t crash when they open the flood gates and put this collection on sale like it did when Missoni for Target went on sale. Also there was that issue of the backorders and ultimate cancellations of many of the products. With experience comes wisdom… Hopefully.
