John Galliano Has the Legion d’Honneur Decoration Taken Away
According to WWD John Galiano had his Legion d’Honneur award taken away because of his anti-semitic rant which was filmed over a year ago and placed on a news website. The fact that his actions resulted in the loss of his position as head designer at Christian Dior and at his own John Galliano namesake label were severe punishments by the LVMH group but his eventual abduction into rehab is what the celebrity designer endured to fix the problem once and for all.
The removal of such an award which was given to Galliano on account of his contributions toward French Couture in 2009 was revoked because people who are recipients of that decoration should not act in such a manner. The president of CRIF (a Jewish group), announced Monday that:
“what he said made him unworthy of wearing this decoration. There are some convictions that aren’t compatible with the award.”
2011 changed the future for John Galliano and his actions have stripped him of his dignity. This is surely the last negative repercussion that will transpire in light of the events that happened and it is surprising that it took so long for this final blow to take place. With rehab and counselling it is our hope that he gets back on his feet and into a healthy state of mind.
John released this apology in 2011 to the public who waited with anger and anticipation:
“Anti-Semitism and racism have no part in our society. I unreservedly apologize for my behavior in causing any offense.”
