Marc Jacobs For Dior:
Since that fateful night in Paris when John Galliano’s lack of filter got the best of him, the fashion industry has been waiting with bated breath in anticipated of the inevitable fallout. Stripped of his position from both Dior and his name sake label, the search has been on for new creative director. Rumors have been swirling around like a tornado in Kansas…but the latest rumor may stick, Marc Jacobs is moving to Dior.
The Daily reported that deal is one, and Jacobs will be moving to the crown jewel of LVMH, leaving the coveted position at Louis Vuitton open (here comes a slurry of rumours ).
Jacob’s remarkable ability to forecast upcoming trends in his collections has skyrocket Louis Vuitton to the top of the industry.
Marc Jacobs has the advantage of being in the good graces of Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, as one of the head designers in the luxury conglomerate. While LVMH recruited outside talent, they tend to promote from within the family, making Marc an obvious candidate.
While we are still waiting for an official release by Dior, who could fill the shoes of Galliiano other than Marc Jacobs?
- Other rumors surrounding the John Galliano scandal:
Phoebe Philo (the current head designer at Celine,) is said to be the front runner to replace Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton.
WWD reported that along with Marc Jacobs leaving Louis Vuitton, his business partner Robert Duffy, will also be leaving and moving over to the House of Dior with Jacobs.
