This collection was inspired by the naturally budding flowers in Toronto and was made to focus on nature and femininity. Sarah Stevenson is now known for florals because last season everyone loved her use of flower prints, even though they were actually rocks… the mistake actually worked in her favor.
This season there is no mistake, flowers are the theme and the trend. Strong colored prints appeared in motion on silk gowns. The show was also in the form of an installation and allowed photographers to snap close-ups and get as much detail as they wanted. This particular method of showing a collection may not be as elaborate as a runway show but it certainly allowed Fashion Collections to display the piece in the best light possible.
Stevenson was wearing one of her own pieces during the show which was a photographers dream! Though she didn’t like to be the subject of the fluttering shutters she certainly looked good in amongst her own designs.
All of the pieces started with a white silk base which was a great canvas for floral prints of this nature but after 15 or so looks you yearn for something a little different. That being said it would be a fair assumption that the buyers and retailers present at LG Fashion Week certainly loved the collection and placed many orders.
