Ditch the Buttons and Go Tee for Spring
I’m sick of buttoning up a collared shirt every time I want to wear a sport jacket. The restrictive collar, seemingly countless buttons and aggravating starchiness of the whole ordeal has rumpled my resolve. A structured system that includes the basics of men’s dressing can leave you brittle and stuffy. The solution is simple, mix a street style Tee with your favorite spring blazer.
When in Rome… do as the Romans do… this phrase is turned in to a lifestyle when looking for a comfortable day to evening look in North America, the UK or Australia. Wearing a button-down shirt will leave you hot and out of place, whereas the almighty T-Shirt will not only physically leave you more comfortable but you’ll actually come across as a cool carefree guy. Dropping your guards and opening up the possibility for random, meaningful human interaction isn’t all that bad is it?
I recently learned that your mood and how you greet people is greatly affected by the temperature of your coffee. Iced coffee = icy greeting, hot drink = hearty introductions all around. This phenomenon is wholly in part because of the drink bearers physical stimuli, but wearing a cool looking Tee opens you up in other ways.
From feeling cool to looking it, the T-shirt and blazer combo takes you from slob to respectable and from “sir” to relatable peer. It really doesn’t matter what shirt you wear… just as long as it doesn’t have a smattering of graphics on it and isn’t too short. V-neck, crew neck or deep V, you’re good to go.
As for the jacket go casual and light by wearing a slim fit cotton or linen fabric sport coat with a two button closure. The lapel is pretty irrelevant but a notch is in right now so go for that.

Great look Mark. Awesome shoes as well.
It’s a great combo and the brown jacket works really well with the blues in the outfit.
The pop of color of the shoes is so complementary to the blue pants and shirt and the beige, or brown in them are a perfect match to the blazer. Very good paring.
Hey Marquis, great look, Love the increase of looks on the blog.
Thanks Jen, one look a week, that’s the goal.
