The Suit of The Season

Different looks with the same khaki suit

The Khaki Suit

It’s already a staple for most post “Everybody in” Gap era. But for those guys who feel the look is dated or wearing head to toe khaki drowns them out… time to think again.

Khaki is a color most men can wear without much effort… it just goes so well with everything and every skin tone. But malleability is only partially why it’s my favorite kook for Spring and moving into Fall. The other half of this must-have is its affinity for events. Work, drinks and dates the khaki suit crushes them all.

Quick note: make sure the fabric isn’t made up of unbreathable man-made materials like polyester, elastane or nylon. These leave you hot as hell and sweating like you’re in the hot seat of your boardroom. The other reason I try to avoid  they do is wrinkle like toilet paper.

Hate wrinkles? Try this.
Get a spray bottle, fill it with distilled water. When you get home at night after a patio party or just a long day at the office, clip your pants from the waist band and hang them so they’re straight. Then spray the water behind the knees and press each leg together one hand on the front (where your knee would be) the other, on the back (being the knee) and wipe down (with clean hands). This smoothes out wrinkles and will have it fresh for the next time you pull it out of the closet.
Do the same for jacket sleeves.

The suit itself should fit slim to the body but have a softer shoulder. Shoot for a notch lapel or at least a slim lapel to keep the look modern and streamlined. The pants should be fitted in the seat and slimmer throughout the leg.

Don’t go all “emo” on me.
Keep the leg opening a little looser so you can slip a bunched up sock between the pant and your leg. Any tighter and you’re going to loose the casual look and end up looking fast fashion versus carefree and handsome.

Try a pastel button-down with this look or sport your favorite team’s t-shirt underneath for a Summer or early fall game.Khaki suit for the office
