TOM FORD Fall Winter 2012 2013

TOM FORD FALL WINTER 2012 2013
TOM FORD Fall Winter 2012 2013

Tom Ford has released a collection with so much sparkle that the audience was busy getting the sun spots out of their eyes and forgot to give a standing ovation after the finale of the TOM FORD Fall 2012 womenswear collection.

There is no question that the line was beautiful, there were silhouette hugging pieces, fur, leather, yellow feather pieces, snake skin boots, and huge gold belt buckles. Everything about that makes you want to love the collection and invest heavily in it, no? Yes the Tom Ford collections are expensive but they should be. Each piece is fitted by the man himself, he chooses everything from the way the apex of a pleat in a dress sits to the fine creases in his pin-tucks. nothing in the line gets to the runway without Tom’s explicit approval.

The way in which Mr. Ford shows his collections are still behind a veil of shroud and mystery and to many this is a fun exciting thing, but to so many others it is an annoyance and ultimately knocks a star off of the collection. The past two seasons the collection has received a standing ovation behind the closed doors, but this past season people were over the whole secret show and just wanted their iPhones (which were taken upon entry) to be returned.

It is undertandable that Ford is going for a unique exclusivity but at the end of the day most people who would or could have been interested in the collection already have their Fall clothes picked out and are waiting for September to walk into Barney’s and simply pick them up. On the other hand it may happen that some people will be over the moon about the choppy music video and pick out a few pieces they can’t live without. Here is hoping.
