A boot so functional that it has been, up until now, categorized as comfortable, affordable, and most importantly; unattractive. The knee high silhouette is great for protection against the elements and is usually made entirely of rubber making it high in traction, affordable, and a breeze to care for.
Hunter is perhaps the most well known brand of this particular style of boot but the trend is catching on HUGE this season and is exploding onto the fashion scene stronger than polka dots at the Marc Jacobs show.
Speaking of Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton has taken the Wellington and made it into a super high heeled sexy rubber boot. This boot that goes to the knee is in almost every color and in every magazine. In other words, it will be on every fashionable foot this coming fall or whenever it rains and is not too hot to justify a knee high boot.
Don’t worry this trend didn’t skip out on men, oh no. In fact Brands such as Jimmy Choo are making the semi-wader in faux croc and with a bit of a heel. Traditionally flat the double spin makes it an instant fashion win as well as a rain boot with an inflated price ticket.
Finally a boot I can slip my skinnies into that doesn’t make me look SO Emo. In fact, the look that comes from tucking your jeans or jeggings (barf) into your boots is quite equestrian. Those green heeled Louis Vuitton Wellingtons are begging for a slim black pant in slick wool tucked in with thick gold rimmed aviators and a woven cream top. Very… Madonna…when she was hot! (JK! but is she a MILF or a GILF????)
Good luck styling your wellingtons and if you don’t have a pair now is the time to invest.
