Sail the seas with this naughty nautical collection designed by Stefano Pilati for Yves Saint Laurent for 2012.
Lots of Red, lots of blue, and lots of white; oh and rope… there was lots of that too.
The collection focused on slinky silhouettes that were cut way above the knee and billowing sleeves on narrow waist blouses. The little anchors on some of the belts, necklaces, jackets, and pants were adorable and brought out the YSL feel of the whole collection.
Short Shorts, plunging V neck lines and high-waisted everything makes this collection super sexy while maintaining it’s runway chic. The colors were poppy red, mautical blue, and spots of yellow. Of course it wouldn’t be resort if there wasn’t some white. That being said it certainly wouldn’t be a collection by Stefano Pilati without a slew of black.
The bags were mostly oversized hobos with fabric front and backs that matched the yellow striped print dresses or red dress and shirt with rope design. He also had a lot of black leather bags that screamed “buy me I’m YSL!”
My Favorite look was the red double breasted trench. The front wind flap was cut in a stair like fashion that went straight across the top of the chest and the slowly went down, left, and down again. THEN! The bottom was cut like an upside down tulip just as it opens up. SO Lovely! Seeing as how we have seen trench coats in at least 4 other resort fashion collections we can safely say the trench is in for Spring 2012 – you heard it on Fashion Collections first!
If you buy nothing else this Resort season or for Spring 2012 buy a Trench!
